Comprehensive Examination Review Questions
Please review and study all questions below

EDU 533: One component of a developmentally appropriate program involves honoring and responding to young children’s and their families’ cultural and linguistic differences. Explain why this is essential to promote young children’s learning. Then choose a grade from K-3 and explain how you would accommodate specific examples of cultural and linguistic diversity in the classroom.
EDU 534: Explain in detail what a constructivist classroom is and what it looks like in practice. How does constructivism assist in differentiating instruction for all students?
EDU 539: Homework is an integral part of the curriculum in your elementary school. Children from Kindergarten to Sixth Grade are routinely given homework assignments. Using what you know about child development, describe appropriate homework assignments for one curriculum area: reading, mathematics, social studies, or science for Kindergarteners, second graders, and fifth graders. Link the assignment requirements to what you know about children’s developmental characteristics at each level.
EDU 301: Construct a program for the development of word analysis and strategies for a class of elementary school students. Include a description of the class, your objectives, the skills and strategies you will teach, the techniques you will use and how you will evaluate student progress.
EDU 503: Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of Inq1uiry and/or Discovery teaching approaches. Explain why current research indicated that “directed” inquiry or discovery is more effective in promoting the acquisition of content knowledge.
EDU 504: Identify each of the Process Standards as set forth by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Explain each of the standards and provide examples for each of those for (a) early years (Pre-K-3) and elementary years (K-6).
EDU 505: interdisciplinary curriculum is a way of incorporating skills that elementary students have learned in language arts, mathematics, and science within a social studies framework. Discuss the advantages of this type of curriculum as opposed to a single subject curriculum in which each academic area is separate from the others. In addition, develop an outline for an interdisciplinary curriculum unit in social studies. The outline must include a social studies theme as well as the topics of 8 lessons (2 from language arts; 2 from mathematics; 2 from science; and 2 from social studies) that are all related to a theme.
EDU 506: Explain how you would support the development of literacy in English language learners. Provide specific descriptions with explanations of the rationale for the learning context, instructional strategies, assessment techniques, and how you will motivate these learners.
